Parenting Plan Mediation

Washington Family Law Mediation

Parenting Plan Mediation

Mediation focused on parenting plans, residential schedules, decision-making, and other parenting disputes.

Parenting Plan Mediation in King & Snohomish Counties

Parenting disputes can be difficult because the issues affect both immediate family life and long-term parenting arrangements. Mediation gives parents and counsel a structured opportunity to work through those disagreements and determine whether an agreed parenting plan can be reached.

Parenting Issues That May Be Mediated

  • Residential schedules
  • Weekday and weekend parenting time
  • Holiday and vacation schedules
  • Decision-making
  • Transportation and exchanges
  • Communication expectations
  • Disputes involving an existing parenting plan
  • Related child-support issues when appropriate to the mediation

A parenting mediation may occur as part of a divorce, parentage matter, modification or another Washington family law proceeding.

The Mediator’s Neutral Role

The mediator does not represent either parent and does not make the parties’ decisions for them. The goal of mediation is to create a process in which contested issues can be identified, discussed and potentially resolved by agreement.

At least one participant must be represented by an attorney for a matter to be accepted by KSL Mediation.

When Parenting Issues Are Part of a Larger Case

Parenting questions are often connected to financial or procedural issues. A mediation may therefore address parenting together with divorce issues, financial disputes or post-decree matters.

Scheduling Parenting Plan Mediation

Our scheduling process allows attorneys and eligible parties to identify preferred mediation dates. Requested dates remain subject to change until both sides complete the required payment process and the KSL Care Team confirms the date.
